The Colour Yellow

Mike put up a split cane screen to extend the porch today, it's made such a difference, think we might buy another one to extend the shade to the bay tree... love the shadows it makes.

Finished reading The Colour Purple, by Alice Walker. Pretty sure I've read it before, but must have been too young to properly appreciate it. What a lot it has, including complex meditations on the work of missionaries. And on God. Here's Shug talking to Celie, the protagonist:

I think it pisses God off if you walk by the colour purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. ... People think pleasing God is all God care about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back. ... It always making little surprises and springing them on us when us least expect. (p176)

Exactly. And, interesting way of trying to express that God has no gender. The problem with "It" is the implication that God is not a person...  Anyway, one thing's for sure about Blip, it's helped me "piss God off" a little less, can't be bad.

Gratefuls:
- the colour yellow, and purple, and red, of course! and all the others, and combinations of colours, too
- shade and shadows, and sunshine that causes them
- Blip, for helping me notice better

Think I might need to wash Mike's towel (on the left)!
