Scotland Day 10

Road Trip

As the weather was absolutely fabulous today, 10c but clear, blue skies, we decided to have a day sightseeing across the length of the islands of Lewis and Harris, in total a 170 mile round trip.

We started at Leversburgh for petrol before heading to the Standing Stones at Callanish (main Blip) and from there we headed to the Carloway Broch, an Iron Age fortified house and then on to the Blackhouse Village at Gearrannan.

We then went North to the very tip of Lewis to see the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse.

It was then a drive South again to get home for about 7.30pm.

Being so far North the days are even longer than usual in the summer. I am typing this now at 10.40  and dusk is only just drawing in.  It doesn't ever get properly dark and it is daylight again by about 4.00am.  It really does mess with your head a bit!

Extras = the coastline at the Butt of Lewis and the Carloway Broch
