Palomena prasina

If I were a common green shield bug,
A bog standard garden or field bug,
Asked my name, when out chattin',
I'd go with the Latin:
Palomena prasina (concealed bug).

It's a beautiful name, Palomena,
And sits nicely alongside prasina.
When it comes to a name
It makes Shield bug seem tame;
Sounds less insect and more ballerina.

Sunny and windy: perfect drying weather. Two washloads pegged out and brought in nice and dry. This little bug fell out of a trouser leg - good job I shake clothes as I unpeg them!
