Lindisfarne

Dunstan to Berwick on the second day, a full fifty miles with the detour on and off Holy Island. The ride along the causeway was magical and otherworldly - but very hard going on the return leg with the wind full in our faces. Later on there was a weird stretch through a former military target area, all sparse windblown grasses and bits of ruined buildings - and we finished off with a proper bit of off-roading along the track round the cliffs above Berwick. Sunday night in Berwick seemed pretty quiet but we chanced upon a very nice restaurant in the Queens Head Hotel where I had the best fish and chips I've tasted in a very long time (not to mention sticky toffee pudding...)
