A Candle for Benny

Christmas Day is always quiet for us, as we celebrate with our children and grandchildren in their Seattle-area homes on December 26th.

Today it was sad, as well as quiet, as my daughter M's cat, Benny, suddenly became very ill this morning. She and her brother rushed him to the emergency vet on call, but Benny's condition was too grave for any treatment to help, so euthanization was the only choice. M and W buried Benny with M's other beloved cat, Sebastian, at their dad's house.

The cat on this holiday card looks a lot like Sebastian, but I didn't have a photo of Benny at hand, so it will have to do. Benny was a "tuxedo" cat, black and white, and full of personality. He will be missed by all of us, especially tomorrow, as his antics with holiday wrapping and delight in his new Christmas cat toys were always fun to see.
