Between fen and mountains

Cornflower

This is the first cornflower I have seen on my walks around the fields. It was at the roadside outside a house so maybe it seeded itself from the owner's garden so I cannot be sure out is a real wildflower. Such is the use of chemicals in the intensive farming of the Fens that I see few wildflowers at the field edges.  In the morning, I left the cafe early to attend the funeral of a friend who sadly died an early death.  It was a short crematorium service with few personal memories recounted during the proceedings and no event afterwards.  Some of us decided that we ought to have our own mini wake to remember her so returned home for coffee and lunch.
