A Temporary Guest

Dear Diary,

I welcome my indigo bunting each year around this time but I know it is just a temporary visit.  They come, enjoy some seeds and then move on.  I have to be on the lookout for them although if you are looking they are hard to miss with this vivid coloring.  This one was so nice to sit up high so I was able to get a good photograph of him against the spring green spirea.  Safe journey, little one, to wherever it is you go.   After my wonderful trip to Ireland, I think I will “shallow the anchor” for a bit.  That’s an old sailor’s phrase for staying at home.  I’m reading a great book, Demon of the Waters about whaling and thought it fitted right now.
