Transfer

Today we took the train from Taormina to Siracusa. Thee journey was one hour and fifty minutes and the train was on schedule. All went well until we got to Siracusa where there were no taxis. A phone supposedly linked to the taxi company did not work.

Eventually a taxi showed up which we shared with two Spanish ladies going to a hotel in the same area as ours. The price was negotiated so did not appear on the meter, nor on the driver’s tax records.

We had a wander around the town in the afternoon. It started to rain so our choice of restaurant was based on the distance from the hotel.

The picture shows Taormina station. It retains many features of bygone day’s and there was a small museum of old rail memorabilia.
