Spectaculum

I'm happy that T. likes middle ages faires as much as I do. So we had a fabulous day at the  Spectaculum in Worms.
The Spectaculum is one of the biggest middle ages fairs in Germany. There are over 70 dealers and over 60 groups of middle ages fans, who live in a giant camp for the three days. It is special, that a large part of the visitors are in middle ages clothes, too. So T. was "gewandet", too. (No, I wasn't)
It is an absolute lovely and peaceful atmosphere there.
There are some fights, for example the "field battle" (main and first extra)
Two big groups are fighting against each others. The rule is, that the one, who is touched by a weapon is out and lays down on the ground. They protect their faces with their shields to get not hurt from the other fighters. There are a lot of different weapons and fighting styles.
It's impressive!
But the main act is a fight of the ridders with "full contact". (2nd and 3th extra) They fight 5 against 5 or every group against each others. These are serious fights, because that one, who falls on the ground, looses.
It's not fair, it's brutality - but to be honest, it's great fun.
Fortunately, the paramedics were needed only once and only weapons but no bones were broken.
So, it's also a great family celebration (4th extra) with al lot of fun acts for the children.
There are a lot of concerts all day long, but the main act was a concert of Bannkreis. T. loved it!
In the last extra you can see how big the fair and the camp is.
I'm very proud, that M. is in the organisation of this event and they did a very good job.
I also met H, his friend and for the first time her mother K., which was lovley. They both worked there as paramedics, which has to be honoured very much!
All in all it was a fabolous day out and we surely will be back next year!
