MONO MONDAY - CHECK

When I was thinking of what to do for today’s Mono Monday challenge, a chess board came to mind, but I had to search for that and the chess pieces.  I knew hadn’t recycled them nor sent them to a charity shop, so I eventually found them.

Then, of course, I had to ask Mr. HCB to set up a “check” situation, because I was never that good at chess and of course, being the kind person he is, he was happy to do that.  However, he was not as happy when I asked him to wear a “check” shirt and to be my model, but you know him and he was eventually persuaded.

It reminded me, and I was only speaking to our son the other day, about the time when aged 5, Martyn beat his Grandad, Mr. HCB’s father, at chess.  He always was a quick learner and I don’t think I could beat him at that age and definitely wouldn’t be able to now!  Happy memories and job done for Mono Monday!

This quote could have been said about me as I was quite an impulsive chess player!

“It was like when you make a move in chess
and just as you take your finger off the piece,
you see the mistake you've made,
and there's this panic
     because you don't know yet
          the scale of disaster
               you've left yourself open to.”

P.S.  Thank you so much for all your comments, stars, hearts, support and understanding yesterday - I know I am not alone in finding it difficult to "keep up"!  x
