Removing da Slates

A beautiful sunny and warm morning.  It clouded over in the afternoon, and then a few showers after tea.  Dried up again tonight.  A windy day, picking up to gales tonight.

A day off work, and the whole day has been spent around the house.  I did have an early shift in the pub this evening.  Been out walkies with Sammy, and now feet up by the fire.

The roof work started early this morning.  We worked as a team of five, me, big Brian, peerie Brian, Sidney and Marvin.  The slates and felt were torn off the roof, and the old nails too.  After lunch, we hot the new felt down, and the first time of the new slates on.  I was mostly clearing up the old slate, and help hold down the new felt.  Hopefully get the job finished by the end of the week.  Taken at home, Hawthorn Cottage, Houl Road, Scalloway.
