Singing Away....

We were up in Preston for the weekend, and as the football season has ended we both went to Martin Mere Wildfowl and Wetland Centre.

It's a great place for winter birds, but I think it's just as good at any time of the year. We were treated to sightings of over 35 bird species, including this delightful Reed Bunting singing away. At this time of the year you're allowed access to the reed beds, so it's nice to get a bit closer to the wildlife.

We also saw Black-tailed godwit, knot and even heard a cuckoo!

The extra is of a Shelduck with a brood of 23 ducklings!!
