Sisters, Oregon

This photograph was made at about the same time of day as the preceding one, but the difference is staggering. I forget, living in the city, what vast unpeopled spaces exist just a few hours away. We’re in central Oregon, in a little town called Sisters, named for three enormous mountains called Three Sisters, not visible here because they’re shrouded in cloud, though at this moment we are looking in their direction. 

We’re here because Sue is attending a painting workshop that begins tomorrow, and I’m along for the ride (and the rest). It also happens that we’re here at the time of the rodeo. This is literally my first rodeo, and if we can endure the cold, we’ll attend the performance Friday night.
