Grábrók Crater - Iceland, Day 3

Just off the ring road round Iceland, about 30 km from Borgarnes and a short way past the Bifröst hotel, we found this 3000 year-old volcano, with a path / boardwalk up to and around the crater rim. Next to it was a second volcano, and views stretching for miles in every direction.
In most of the places I've been to this would be be a major tourist draw, a wonder to view. However, in Iceland it hardly rates a mention and we just happened across it as we drove past.  Wonderful!
It's impossible to just choose one picture on a day when we did so much. One of the extras shows the 5 of us on the trip, eating lunch after the trip up to the crater edge. Another shows a lovely church in a spectacular setting, Þingeyra church, very close to where we went 40 years ago! Apparently the church is wonderful inside, but it wasn't open until the 1 June. The third extra is Go∂afoss, one of the many spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. We saw it at 11 o'clock in the evening, a good way to miss the crowds and it never gets dark this close to midsummer.
(Language point - foss = waterfall, think of the waterfalls in Yorkshire, eg High Force)
Backblip, posted on 7 June. Today's blip is here.
