Raised beds ......

…. looking the best they ever have.

W has been gradually developing our "kitchen garden"

Broad beans in the foreground, beside it a "fallow" bed.  Behind are, from left to right, a fruit cage (at the moment only containing blueberries and strawberries), a bed of mixed peas and climbing beans, and a bed with mixed brassicas, shrouded well to try to keep out the butterflies.

There are a couple of tubs with potatoes (our first attempt) and in the polytunnel there are tomatoes, strawberries and lettuce.

W has laid pavers between the beds, though the moles are still wreaking havoc.  There is still work to do.  Future plans include moving the fruit cage to the bigger bed this autumn, and adding some raspberry canes, and increasing the productivity of the polytunnel, which is currently underutilised. But this is by a long way the best we have ever managed, and we look forward to consuming the fruits of our labours.
