Streets of Sorrento

The goal today was to relax and chill for our first day in Italy.

We enjoyed breakfast just before it finished at 9:30 then headed out to get our bearings of the town. Before we knew it (8 minutes) we were in the centre of the lovely Sorrento so continued down the many steps to the marina.

Extra ----> Art and people of Sorrento

My first Peroni tasted wonderful as we soaked up the harbour and surrounding landscape. We had an hour or so in the lower part of town before returning to the upper and back to the hotel for a relax by the pool and a little snack.

After dinner Claire and I returned to the busier part of town to enjoy the backstreets and wonderful little art and souvenir shops. Most are based around lemons and you can't go ten feet without smelling the wonderful soaps.

We treated ourselves to excellent Gelatos as we passed on the desserts at the hotel.

First day done and it was most enjoyable, the hotel is in the perfect location, so close to the centre but just enough out to escape the noise.

Going from 12 degrees rain in Birmingham to 30 degrees in sunshine is just what we need.
