Up on the ridge

JJ has gone to Cheshire on a four day golfing break, so I’ve been left to my own devices so I did the supermarket shop and then had a walk up onto the ridge. I did want to do a loop of the windmill but am still not back to full strength, frustratingly.

I saw one butterfly, a Meadow Brown, a couple of skylarks which weren’t cooperative and a red kite. The lower field is barley, but I am finding it very difficult to photograph successfully. More practice needed.

One of the fields on the ridge has wild flowers all the way round the perimeter and this is one of the ones in flower at the moment, but I’m too lazy to go and check out its name.

Checked and it would appear to be a member of the pea family called Sainfoin.
