Offham marshes

Went down towards Lewes this morning to have a look at the flooding on Offham marshes (also known as the Pells). The alluvial marshes lie between the Downs at Offham and Hamsey which is an island surrounded by the river Ouse. They have SSSI status because of the presence of common toads and marsh frogs. The embankment in the distance carries the London to Lewes railway across the floodplain.
