After the fire

November 2011 there was a devastating bush fire in Prevelly, South West Western Australia where a number of houses were lost and the natural vegetation on the sand hills was decimated. A little over 12 months later and the undergrowth is recovering but the bushes and small trees remain testament to the ravages of fire.

I left my drive to the beach area a little late this evening arriving just after the sun had set. However, the moon was up and I caught sight of this picture as I pulled into the carpark. I was happy with the composition and exposure but would have been happier if I had managed to get both the foreground and the moon in focus. That's ok...room for improvement is fine while I am still experimenting with and learning about using my camera.

During the day I'd had a go at trying to photograph my granddaughter blowing bubbles. That was not successful but I have some ideas of what I need to do in the future. For one thing it is not a good idea to try this on a HOT day as the bubbles tend to pop too quickly. Once the temperature cooled down a little around 6pm the bubbles happily floated for much longer before popping, but by this time there was not enough light. So next time it is around 24C, little breeze and slightly overcast I will get my assistant (granddaughter) to come and blow some more bubbles for me.

Ok..that's my blip for today. Another hot day here tomorrow (36C) and then hitting the road back to Perth for the weekend (expected to be 41C Saturday...yuck).
