We arrived at JFK 12.30pm and a couple of hours later we were in BedStuy looking for our AirBnB apartment. This is when having hand luggage only pays off, and the forecast is great so only brought summer clothes.
We’ve been so excited about this holiday. It was on my mum’s bucket list, and while she’s fit and able we’re pleased to be able to accompany her. It’s lovely and sunny and 24C and the apartment is great.
After unpacking we had a wander round the local neighbourhood, and it’s typical of what we see on TV, residents sat on their porches and BBQ’s on street corners. It’s also very loud, lots of music, from cars or apartments, and horns tooting.
Mum is in her element and taking it all in, and we found a local restaurant where we sat in the garden and had the most delicious corn bread.
As much as I tried I couldn’t stay awake past 8.30pm local time and as a result woke at 3am and watched the sun come up.
