Guggenheim NYC

The time difference meant I was awake from 3.30am but feeling happy to be here. We had beautiful sunshine and headed out early to Central Park, which of course was buzzing with joggers, cyclists, horse riders, guys playing baseball and quite a high police presence as there’s Puertorican Parade today. We spent the day wandering around including, Park Ave, Washington Sq, and Greenwich Village. We went in the Stonewall Inn, it’s the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, and rainbow flags are everywhere across the city this month as NY is holding World Pride Parade.
Washington Sq was crazy busy with buskers and sunbathers and we had a nice lunch, big portions of course. Next we went to find Julius Bar, which R had seen in Can You Ever Forgive Me. As soon as we walked in we realised it was the same bar we visited 4yrs ago and they invited us to a free Thanksgiving lunch. They were so friendly and we chatted with a guy who is Santa at Radio City every year. Today they were playing the Calamity Jane movie in the background and mum sang along.
We headed home early evening and R & I freshened up and headed to Williamsburg. As we’d been on our feet most of the day mum decided to stay in.
Williamsburg was great, except they wouldn’t let us in Skinny Dennis, as we didn’t have ID on us. Apparently they’re stricter on ID if there’s live music.
We did find an alternative however and had a great time. It seems a live DJ doesn’t require ID.
Williamsburg looks great and we hope to come back later in the week and wander round the shops.
