Here & There

Reflections

A gorgeous day for being in the mountains, sunny and cool but not really cold. The snow cover and depth is still extensive, reported as being double the normal at this time of year. The rivers and streams are roaring torrents with the spring melt, and warnings have been issued for flooding potential in some areas. Our hike to Dog Lake at 2600m was all on snow for the last 200m.
Along the way it was lovely to see the aspens bursting out in green (still bare at the lake level), a few alpine flowers appearing, and the hummingbirds are back.
