Sizergh Castle

A wet day

Sizergh is an old stately home just south of Kendal. It was generally in the hands of the Strickland family until they donated it to the National Trust in1950.

Catherine Parr is thought to have lived here after the death of her first husband died in 1533. Her second husband, Lord Latymer, was related to the Dowager Lady Strickland.

We toured the Castle but since it was rather wet we passed on the Gardens. However we have seen them before.

In the evening we treated ourselves to a lovely meal in the Riverview Hotel Restaurant, with a lovely view over the River Kent
