Haring is Sharing

It’s Spokes’ birthday today, so a celebratory visit to the new Keith Haring exhibition at Tate Liverpool seemed in order.

I think it’s one of the best exhibitions I’ve ever seen! The art really resonates with me, of course, but the exhibition itself has been brilliantly curated and thoughtfully presented too. It runs until 10th November so there’s plenty of time to visit, if you can.

It’s a great tragedy that Keith Haring died, of AIDS related causes, aged just 31, back in 1990. But he left us with an amazing body of work and a vibrant humanity and positivity - which infused even his most angry and political art. I bought a copy of his journals and am looking forward to getting stuck in!

Meanwhile, here’s an animation of some of his work, as used by Madonna for her live shows in 2008. ‘Get Into The Groove’ everyone! https://youtube.com/watch?v=ttU6cYHKc3M
