Honey bees

A varied day. The tractor, which started first time several weeks ago, now refuses to engage. And that’s after I spend the morning finding grease gun, grease, oil and all.

There’s comfrey flowering. I chop at it with an opinel, preventing much more seeding. It’s already got everywhere, and is especially bad in the middle of the fruit bushes. Which are in need of serious attention.

Two of my hives seem to have attracted wild honey bee colonies. I’ll need to ask an expert for advice about how to help them survive until next year. Oxalic acid or thymol or apistan or icing sugar. So many choices. So many opinions.

And then to Kinghorn for a relaxing night by the sea.
