Paul Getty

Visited the impressive Getty Museum in Los Angeles today. Impressive paintings, sculptures and things even from the time prior to the foundation of the city. Paintings and treasures mostly from France, some from Italy and some from England. The painter Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-1797) was e.g. represented by his painting or portrait of John Wetham of Kirklington (1731-81) and Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) with his portrait of Anne, Countess of Chesterfield. The more modern Paul Gaugin (1848-1903) was there too. The museum is situated above Los Angeles whith a lovely view of the city.
