Carpet museum

We had a relaxed start to the day as we have to get a taxi to the airport at 1.30 am.

We walked to the carpet museum, another unusual building, shaped like a rolled up carpet. It is right by the Caspian Sea, so we were walking below sea level as the Caspian is 26 feet below.

We saw some magnificent work from over the centuries, and also modern pieces like paintings. There was also embroidery.

When we came out the temperature had gone up to 32, and though there was a breeze from the sea, nevertheless we both felt quite dizzy by the time we’d got back to the hotel. We’ve been drinking a lot of water since so hopefully have no ill effects from the 5+ miles walked.

Packing is done so we intend to have a nap in preparation for the long journey of 3 flights - Baku to Moscow, change terminals, Moscow to London Heathrow, change terminals, Heathrow to Newcastle, then metro to #3 daughter’s top pick up the car. Should be home in time for bed tomorrow night. I wonder if our bags make it through Moscow this time?

Thank you for all you kind comments on yesterday’s blip, and thank you for joining us on our travels.
