If You Had a Lot of These, You Could Make a Bird

I’ve been reading The Book of Delights, essays by poet Ross Gay. They are sweet little pieces, celebrations of a noticed life, and for the most part they make me laugh or smile. Or remember, or make my own noticings. And it reminds me so much of Blipfoto, of the way a daily photo practice has enriched my life over the years. Noticing engenders more noticing, seeing increases your ability to see, sharing makes everything blossom. I confess that his style of writing sometimes obscures for me the meaning of what he is delighting in; a fondness for long sentences and odd constructions can be distracting, but this is a lovely book, something to keep, to consult perhaps. To remember delight.
