The long and winding road

Today we walked up to the lovely village of Moustiers-Ste-Marie.  It is classified as one of "Les plus belle villages de France" and with reason.  The village itself is nice but It's the location at the base of a ravine leading up to a church that is stunning.

We set off to walk up to the church only find that the path we had taken ran out at a Grotto.  So we went all the way back down to the village and found a much more substantial path (illustrated)

When we finally reached the church we met some people we had seen on the other path who informed us that there was a way though from the grotto after all.

An ice cream was therefore called for to aid recovery - see extra.  This was a work of art!

This afternoon we cycled down to the lake for a swim (a very hot 6km) and finished the evening with an excellent pizza from a van on our campsite (better than any we had in Italy last year)
