Light and Shadow

There are lots of patterns created by the light on this euphorbia which has a wonderful fractal pattern on its own.

The pattern of my day has been crazy, beginning with fire trucks, an ambulance, numerous police in cars and on motorcycles rushing up Los Alamos Road behind our house, quickly followed by a helicopter. Los Alamos is a country road with no sidewalks, and we practically had to jump into the bushes with Ozzie (who wasn't keen) just to get off the road. It turns into a very exposed one lane road at the top before it goes down the hill to Hood Mountain Regional Park, so our first thought was that somebody drove off the road. Who knows if we'll ever find out what actually happened....

Back to back appointments had me driving back and forth across town today. Our plan for a leisurely lunch and a visit to the nursery went out the window for today, but we will go soon as we are planning to revamp the strip of garden outside our bedroom.

It is, of course, the best time of year for all things blooming and a good time to be sure that the flowering plants we are choosing are the right color! It's not as if our garden was carefully curated for color, but we have had some total surprises such as the bright pink asian lilies blooming spectacularly next to the bright orange canna lilies. Ordered from a catalog as bulbs, we didn't realize until they shot up three feet that they were not the yellow day lilies OilMan thought he ordered.

The weather continues to be beautiful with no need at all for the newly repaired air conditioner. We are now faced with the difficult choice between three or four places to sit outside for our evening glass of wine. It's hard for two people to fully utilize all the spots on the property.  Ozzie is boycotting all of the ones accessible by stairs which eliminates one choice....
