Alpaca Trekking

Before Alan’s business trip to Prague came up, we’d already booked a long weekend at a boutique B&B that only opened in April, in Romney Marsh, Kent. So we were up early re-packing and left home at 10.30am as we had an Alpaca Trek booked at 1pm.

We arrived at Woodland View Alpacas and were introduced to our companions Athos and Porthos who were a pair of two year old males. There was quite a big group of us on the trek through the Kent countryside so it was fun to see the Alpacas together. They’re quite nervous creatures, and even though they do this trek daily, they were quite jumpy. We stopped from time to time to let them graze and they seemed very interested in the poppies.

From there we drive to Beckets Barn where we’re staying for two nights in a converted pig barn. We were met by Janet and David, the owners who live in the main house and they showed us around, including the gym and indoor swimming pool that we have the use of. They then invited us into the main house for coffee and cake before settling into the pig barn.

Our accommodation is fully equipped with a little kitchen, so tonight I made a Penang curry and we shared a bottle of Bandol rosé and just chilled out, which was lovely after all the travelling over the last week.
