Cabbage White

I was sitting in the backyard in the afternoon, between some rain showers that were rather unexpected. I had my camera by my side and my book in my hand, when I noticed a small white butterfly had landed on some jewelweed nearby. I got my camera out and took a few shots. Perhaps it is a common creature, this cabbage white, but it seemed extraordinary to me, so delicate and lovely, so pale against the endless green.

The song: Annie Lennox, A Whiter Shade of Pale.
