Tramping

Jess fancied a change from the beach, she had been admiring the Uig hills and thought it would be fun to climb one. She picked the highest, if course - Mealsival. It's actually the highest hill on Lewis and may be only 574m high, but no stroll. "Tramping" best describes the approach, over and round peat hags (see extra) and then the top half of the hill is covered in huge boulders. It was worth it for the amazing view from the summit..we could see St Kilda and the Flannan Isles, the hills of Harris and of course Lewis too.

Not content with all that, Jess insisted on a detour to see the Mangersta sea stacks on our way back to the van (2nd extra).

We are now at Bosta beach for the night, a beautiful spot on the island of Great Bernera.

Jess is eating her tea and will probably have a bit of a rest after that :-)

PS for wws1968 - D got up to the top in BARE FEET!
