Mount Sorrow

Today we woke up at our campsite in the Daintree rainforest (probably one of the clearings in the photo) and drove 5min up the coast to Cape Tribulation beach. There we had a relaxing breakfast of muesli all alone on the sand as the run rose and warmed up the day.

After an hour scattered with some napping and ignoring of tour groups we packed up and drove over to the Mount Sorrow trail head. Advertised at a 6-hour extremely hard hike we decided to hit it at pace, after 1hr 44min of sweating it out (4.4km and 700m climb in the rainforest) we got to the top for this awesome view. If anything the way down was almost harder, a bit vertigo inducing at times!

Driving back south we grabbed some weird tasting ice cream from a very pushy selling Daintree ice-cream company. As it got dark we made it back to cairns.

Checking into the hostel and then to Salt House (one of my other favourite restaurants in cairns) for pizza and a relaxed evening back in civilization.
