Single Track Roads

Backblipped

We spent an epic day on the motorbikes today.  Leaving Skye we headed for the beautiful little harbour at Plockton where we stopped for a coffee.  We had taken a few shots of the harbour when a brief rain shower arrived, which saw us hurriedly seeking shelter under the eves of a nearby building. But the sun was soon out once more as we headed off towards Applecross and the Bealach Na Ba road.  The top of the pass was covered in cloud,  which meant that we sadly have no photographs of this epic piece of road.

After a stop at Applecross for a bite to eat we headed out on the single track road around the peninsular heading north to Torridon, Gairloch and Poolewe with the weather improving by the hour.

The roads were amazing.  Some sections were technically challenging single track roads with passing spaces, other sweeping fast highways.  But all had the most amazing scenery.  At Altnacealgach we eventually stopped for the night - exhausted but grinning from ear to ear.  I'm reasonably sure that this is Ben More Assynt in the background - but I'm happy to be corrected if I've got that wrong!
