Wild Garden

Before crossing the Irwell onto the Manchester Bank, I paused to look down.

The Mark Addy pub has been closed since the floods of Boxing Day 2015, future still undetermined.

Meanwhile, nature is taking over. The number of plant species is impressive. I am no botanist, so can only name a few. Giant Hogweed is both wonderfully impressive, and exceedingly nasty if touched (and is currently providing an impressive floral display along the river). Valerian (our of shot) brings a splash of colour. And budlieia promises nectar for the insects in a few weeks time. And there were lots of others.

Just about managed this shot holding an umbrella and not dropping my phone into the river. A very wet afternoon.
