What a lovely day:-

to be Unsuccessful

I was looking for a Manx tholtan called "Close".  In Manx this means "enclosure"  The word is often associated with a name such as in "Close Hom" = Tom's enclosure.  However this particular enclosure was not associated with any name.

On a hot afternoon walking through the heather it was quite a task to reach it.  I came upon an extensive stone boundary wall and there I had to give up because it was too risky for me to climb it whilst miles from the nearest person.  The stone pile marks a parish boundary.

In years gone by people must have gone to a lot of trouble to find the white quartzite rocks because the local rocks here are the Manx Slate series.

However one was somewhat cheered by the view of Snaefell in the background and which at 2,034ft is our highest hill mountain.
