Barley field - and a painted lady
I picked up T from Berwick station and we had a lazy afternoon at the cottage. We summoned up some energy early evening and went along the river path which was getting a bit overgrown so we were keen to find another route back through the estate. We passed this barley field which was looking splendid in the sun with the breeze rippling through it. There were also numerous painted lady butterflies - it must be their time - see the extra photo.
It was a perfect day, sunny and warm, nothing like the extreme heat wave in Europe, thank goodness.
