You Look Familiar.

Took myself off for a walk whilst daughter sweated it out in the gym. I didn't get very far as I watched these beautiful Great Crested Grebes. One corner of the loch had at least half a dozen of these stunning birds zooming around, out to impress. It was very entertaining watching their antics. Lots of ruffled feathers and chatting.

I love the Latin name for these birds: Podiceps cristatus.
I love their beautiful plumage and their energetic dances.

Apparently, in the late 19th Century, there were only 32 breeding pairs of Great Crested Grebes in England as they were killed for their feathers.
Thank goodness that was stopped!
