Another day another t-shirt

Well, time to pull on Will Hoge’s number, get the coffees in, and head on down the hill into the throng. Hello Glastonbury!! Seriously, kicking things off at the Pyramid stage, it’s ABBA! No new numbers, but they did do an Aerosmith cover as a crowd pleaser. Looking as good as ever. Round the stalls in the baking heat; this place is vast. Did I say that? And very hot. Sheryl Crow up next. You can even sing along to her new songs - they’re so errr direct.
Down around theatre bits and deck chairs, before we had to retire into a big open sided tent to hear old Eavis and get a bit cool. Onward - for at Avalon was one of the first bands I ever saw - Steeleye Span! We press in awhile - their guitarist is so effin loud my ears almost bleed. Is that because their audience are a bit hard of hearing? We bale out and listen to the rest outside, the SK (also a childhood fan) singing along.
So, evening found us along at the Park Stage watching Michael Kiwanuka; he is indeed the only one of his kind, as he sings. A brief chat with F&H who are heading off for bangers or something while we spread out the rug and watch the fireworks and Cat Power.
A cracking day; did I mention it was baking hot? The big questions unanswered - how long are the shower queues going to be in the morning after this heat? And is a t-shirt and shorts sufficient at my age? It’s not much of a statement - I’ve noticed quite a few of my fellow oldies gild their advancing years with eccentricity. I need a top hat or moustache or something. Any tips?
