sistas

A day out with my Samba Sisters never fails to raise the spirits. I hadn't really felt like going out anywhere today and I didn't know if I'd have the energy to drum..but it was great. Such a fun and supportive bunch of women and of course I do always enjoy playing on the back of a lorry. Parades are the best fun of all - a community has come together to put on a big event, people have made fancy dress costumes, the committee has fundraised to hold a children's gala in the park and everyone is having a good time. We wound our way through the streets of Lochmaben for over an hour, and then the lorry got stuck in the narrow streets going back so we played some more. Eventually we had to walk back to the High Street to get our cars to retrieve all the drums. Tiring, but we still had half an hour before we were due to play again in the park.

Some of us had a very quick lunch at The Pink Flamingo cafe. They were busy, but a request for gluten free vegan food (and fast!) didn't phase them in the least...and it was lovely.

Suitably refuelled, we hot footed up to the park and played a set of tunes.

*Icing on the cake - we won a big silver cup for "Best Adult Float"

Next Saturday we will be playing at another gala in Annan!
