The Nello bike ride

I was supporting my husband today who along with two other friends was taking part in the Nello bike ride, opting for the shorter distance of 55 miles.  It was a very well organised event with food and drink stops and a bike repair service should it be needed.  So it was an early start and we arrived in time for them to register and then have breakfast, kedgeree or porridge.  There was a lot of joking and fun as they eventually got in line for the wait to the starting point, the longer distance riders starting off first.  A drone was circling above coming in quite close on occasion and can just be seen in the distance of this shot.  They got off to a good start and I headed back home.  A friend was visiting and we both then went back to Topsham for a stroll around the town before eventually heading back to the Rugby Club where the ride was ending.  Although we got back half an hour before their estimated time they had arrived 10 minutes early and we found them enjoying a well earned cup of tea with medals hanging around their necks.  They eventually celebrated with a pint of beer before heading home.  A good day for them and the weather which was warm and cloudy for the morning before the sun came out was just right for them, considering how hot it has been.
