Early Start . . . Day 4

Monday was spent driving the six hours from the Wairarapa to Taupo.  There were so many photo opportunities but no time to stop and no places to pull over.  After driving in the States I am critical of our  narrow roads with little or no shoulder and no pull off places to stop in and take photos.
The visitors were staying in two houses in the Rainbow Point Area.  The forester got the fires going in both houses and went off to buy fish and chips.  It was decided this Kiwi meal would make it easy on us for the first night.  The local fish and chip shop must have been surprised to get such a big order on a Monday night. They were very good.  It was early to bed because Tuesday morning was trout fishing starting at 7.00 a.m.  The fishing charter included breakfast so we went and had breakfast with friends and did the supermarket shopping for lunch and dinner.  The visitors got a perfect Taupo winter morning of frost, sunshine and no wind.  The blip is the milling about before being invited aboard.  The fishing was successful with ten trout caught.  Five were kept to become dinner.
After lunch it was off touring Huka Falls, Lava Glass, Honey Hive and a quick look at the shops in Taupo.  One visitor was on the hunt for an All Black jersey for her husband.
At the house it was light the fire again and start dinner.  The trout were baked whole in the oven with onion, lemon, lemon pepper and wrapped in tinfoil.  Red and white spuds, big salad and pavlovas for dessert.    Those who were keen went for a swim in the thermal pools with the forester and I cleaned up and collapsed into bed.
