The Abram Morris Dancers

Backblip

Sunday of the Folk weekend at Croston.

After taking the tent down I went to one of the pubs for a session. It was very hot so a group of us sat outside to play.

We saw a funny sight. A man emerged from one of the doors carrying his shirt. He sprayed himself with a male perfume so strong that we all started coughing. He then put his shirt on and sprayed it round and round his bald head before going into the pub. It did amuse us - he must have gassed the customers!!

The Abram Morris Dancers from Wigan arrived to dance on the village green near where we were. They dance around local villages on the last Saturday In June every year following a custom from 1881.

We then carried on playing until it was time to go home. The extra photo is of our little group of musicians.

It was a wonderful weekend of good company and great music making. It was held in a beautiful village with very friendly local people.
