Christmas Sweets

These sweets are something of a family tradition. It all started many, many years ago when Gran made a bit too much marzipan for the Christmas cake, and turned into a something approaching a cottage industry for a good many years! It certainly made us popular with family and friends. The scale has now contracted back to something more manageable, with Kerri and Mum having made this year's lot in really only one day (with some prep done before). Having tried a wide variety of recipes over the year, we now have a more or less set variety of sweets - marzipan potatoes (rolled in cinnamon), marzipan cherries (stuck between two halves of a glace cherry, none of that fruit shaping lark for us), chocolate truffles, lemon curd truffles, chocolate gingers, chocolate mints, Turkish delight. It's these sweets which really prove that Christmas time is with us. Sadly there are not very many chocolate truffles left, and the chocolate gingers are running low now too. Ah well, I suppose Christmas was last week!
