Be careful what you witch for

I bought this Himalayan honeysuckle years ago on impulse because it was said to be hardy and very easy to grow. True. Despite neglect it has thrived and stands over 6ft and fills a dark corner of the grden.

The correct name is Leycesteria formosa , and it became a  popular plant in Victorian shrubberies.

More to the point deer do not like it.
Perhaps they are deterred by its spooky flowers which remind me, caught at the right angle, of witches.

Thanks to osuzanna for hosting Tiny Tuesday.
