Purple hairstreak

Yet another day of rubbish shots, but I thought I would share this one with you anyway as it isn't something you see that often.
This is a Purple hairstreak  Favonius quercus, which is our most common hairstreak, but despite that they are seen very infrequently at ground level, preferring to spend their time in the canopy of oak trees fighting and squabbling among themselves and with other butterflies! When I saw this one today sitting on a bracken frond I could scarcely believe my eyes, sadly it was shaded by another bracken frond, and moved when I tried to push the frond away. But I got a record shot anyway, which is probably all that really matters - not that I really believe that !
