Stag Beetle

This morning I went to the gym at the hospital then met a friend at a farm shop cafe for something to eat and  a catch up. The sweet potato fries were delicious and crispy and it was lovely to chat to my friend. 

I then came home minus a blip so popped over to the castle to see what was around.  I saw this large stag beetle that had crawled up to the top of a nettle. I believe that his name is Ringo. I was stung in several places in the persuit of a photo - luckily there were plently of dock leaves around!

I also spotted this Great Pied Hoverfly flitting about - it's an extra (I really must learn how to make a collage!)
