Fluffy

On Monday morning, we awoke to fluffy clouds on the green hills, intermittent sunshine, and a procession of boats returning to Passau. By 8am, when we'd done with breakfast, finished packing and emptied our cabin, we were already entering Passau - by now in full sunshine. I've added an extra. It's impossible to get the Passau waterfront without boats on it. I wonder if it's approximately boat free even in winter....

We docked up in the Winterhafen next to our sister ship Arlene, and our bags were passed out by another human chain onto the dock. We had to wait a while for a transfer bus to the station (not that we were leaving, but this was the best option). C and K took the opportunity of being in the station to buy their tickets for tomorrow. Had we done that, in retrospect we could have saved 4 euro.... But at that point we were not clear about our plans.

We dropped our bags in the hotel, and went for a coffee in the Residenzplatz in Cafe Minoo (also frequented last Monday when it was a lot hotter...). C and K then headed up to the Veste Oberhaus, and we had a much shorter wander around the peninsula and three-rivers-meeting point, before having lunch at the Goldenes Schiff (also a repeat of last Sunday). We then settled into the hotel for quite a long afternoon rest. It must have been needed. I found it hard to wake up again, but we managed it in the end, and headed out for dinner - another repeat performance at the Heilige Geist Stift. Yep, that seems to be a monastery that's in the business of providing your dinner. And very busy it was too, even though it was Monday evening. Rocking, in fact, mainly with locals as far as we could see.

Returning to the hotel, we gathered in our room, and shared a bottle of wine that I had brought Mr A from the wine tasting he missed on Sunday. Well, there had to be some price for being a lazy fart and not cycling ;-). We'd managed to squeeze it in our minibar fridge by dint of removing more or less everything else. Our last night. Very sad!
