Wound up in Wexford

Agapanthus

Another South African plant that we love.  This is one of the two that we bought, and that I blipped back in May.  It's actually doing quite well.  The main flower on the other one was damaged by a bird - our fault, we sited it under one of the bird feeders, and the pigeons walk around clearing up seeds and other stuff dropped by the small birds.  But it is managing to produce a second flower bud, though rather smaller than the first.

Having "liked" the Facebook page for RHS Wisley, I get regular updates, and one yesterday featured a South African themed "meadow".  This has inspired us to consider a similar theme (on a smaller scale, of course) for the new bed that we plan to create this autumn/winter.   We'll have to see if we can source some of the other South African plants featured.  The clivia is also a South African native, but I'm afraid that won't "do" outside in our garden, sadly.
